What happens in a class ?
1. Do I attend with my child?
All children attending GymbaROO must be accompanied by an
adult. This can be a parent , nanny, grandparent or any nominated
carer. Grandparents/partners are also most welcome to come along
with the primary carer and observe.
2. Can I make up a missed class.
Do I need
to notify anyone if unable to attend a class ?
If you miss a class a makeup class may be available. Makeup
positions are limited. So we can be as fair to everyone as
possible please be aware of the following:
- You must book any makeup class in advance (at the centre,
over the net or by phone)
- Maximum of 2 makeup classes per term. A booked class counts
even if you do not attend it.
- Makeup classes are subject to availability and may not be
available if a class is full or when no other class runs in your
child's age group.
- Makeup classes must be taken in the same term and if on a 3
week trial must be taken within the 3 weeks of the trial period.
- Please consider others who may have missed a class through
illness by not booking makeup classes due to your social
commitments.
3. What should we wear?
Try and dress both your self and your child in comfortable loose
clothing (Girls / Mums in shorts or pants, rather than a dress).
For babies, please bring a bunny rug as a comforter and wherever
possible do not dress your baby in a full suit (to maximize baby
massage activity)
4. How long is a class?
Classes run for 45 minutes.
5. What footwear is recommended for class?
Children need bare feet so that they can experience the activities
through all the senses. Children gain a lot of information through
their feet. Bare feet also assists their grip on the equipment.
Parents also need to remove shoes (but can keep socks on) so that
we can keep the equipment and floor clean for the children.
Safety Note: Wooden and vinyl floors can become very
slippery when wearing socks. Adults in socks should take due care.
6. Can I bring my older /younger child /baby along?
It is highly preferable not to bring siblings along. Siblings can
be accommodated only if they do not interfere with the normal
class activities. Siblings are not part of the class. As they
are not insured they are not allowed to go on the equipment or
participate in mat activities. If you have a young baby in a sling
or pouch for the entire class this is usually ok. Older babies and
toddlers must be secured in strollers and the stroller placed out
of the way of class activities (not in Gym or within Mat area). A
3 or 4 year old sibling must sit to the side of the Gym and Mat
areas to observe (not next to you or on your lap). This can prove
to be extremely challenging if not impossible for most little
ones.
7. Safety on large equipment.
Children are only permitted on the equipment at designated times
and under the supervision of a parent/ carer or teacher. Children
may not use the equipment during mat time. Unsupervised and/or
uninsured children are not permitted on the equipment at any time
(including siblings)
8. What if my child does not enjoy GymbaROO or is
not co-operative?
Let your child have their own GymbaROO experience. It is important
for parents to put their own expectations aside and to let their
child have their own unique experience.
Try these hints:
Let your child finish what they are doing before encouraging them
to try something else.
If they need a cuddle on your lap and want to watch the activity,
allow them to do this and they will join in when they feel it is
safe to do so.
Don't worry if your child is doing the activity a little
differently to that which has been demonstrated.
9. Can I take photographs of my child at the
centre?
GymbaROO respects all members privacy and we do not permit
photography of any type while classes are in progress. If you wish
to take a photo / video of your child, please arrange it with a
staff member who will allow you to do so after class when no other
children or carers are present.
10. Do you offer Casual / Drop In classes ?
No. We have found that casual classes do not permit us
to maintain the correct class sizes and babies and children
attending infrequently are understandably not settled in class and
derive less benefit.
